How to Handle Sales Objections on LinkedIn: Scripts & Strategies
Objections on LinkedIn aren't rejection — they're the start of a real conversation. Most salespeople crumble at the first 'not interested.' Skilled appointment setters see objections as opportunities to demonstrate value and book meetings.
Objection 1: 'Not Interested'
This is rarely true — they replied, which means something caught their attention. Response: 'Completely understand, [Name]. Just out of curiosity — is it the timing, or is [problem] not a priority for [Company] right now?' This opens a dialogue without being pushy.
Objection 2: 'We Already Have a Provider'
Response: 'Great to hear you're already investing in [area]. Most of our clients had existing providers before switching. Would it be worth a 10-minute conversation to see if there are gaps or additional opportunities? No pressure either way.'
Objection 3: 'No Budget Right Now'
Response: 'I appreciate the honesty. Budget cycles come and go — would it make sense to have a brief conversation now so you're ready when the time is right? Happy to share some insights on what's working in [industry] regardless.'
Objection 4: 'Send Me More Information'
This often means 'I want you to go away politely.' Response: 'Happy to — I want to send something relevant though. Can I ask: is your main challenge [Pain A] or [Pain B]? That way I'll share the most useful case study.'
Objection 5: 'Bad Timing'
Response: 'Completely understand. When would be a better time to revisit this? I'll set a reminder and reach back out then.' (Then actually follow up when they said.)
The Golden Rules of Objection Handling
Never argue. Always acknowledge their position. Ask questions rather than making statements. Offer low-commitment next steps. Know when to gracefully move on. And always leave the door open — a 'no' today is often a 'yes' in 3-6 months.
